Reviews for Philips HD4632/20 Eco Temperature Control Kettle, 3000 Watt, 1.6 Litre (Kitchen & Home) Very pleased, will heat a single mug, and temperature control avoids a steamy kitchen and wasted electricity.
Only small snag is that for smaller quantities you need to dial up a lower temperature than for 4 or 5 cups, but I soon got used to this.

I only drink black coffee, herbal tea or diluting juice so I do not need and certainly do not want boiling water (I scalded myself once) so 40° is the perfect temperature for me. I don't adjust the temperature much so the dial isn't moved about, but it is easy to adjust the temperature for visitors. I didn't notice any tainted taste. So far so good but I have only had it for a short time and if it starts to fail in one year and one day I shall not be a happy bunny - I like it too much so, I would have to buy a new one! I couldn't say how much less energy it uses but it must be quite a bit. It really looks like and works just like an ordinary kettle apart from the temperature select.
