    Reviews for Russell Hobbs 14590 1.7 L Stylis Kettle in Black Gloss Classic Design (Kitchen & Home) I bought this kettle 13 months ago.
    The kettle was on a half price offer and I thought I had a bargain - it looked nice, boiled quickly and not too noisy either.
    Yes, the water did taste really bad for a couple of weeks and even now, if I don't use the water straight away I can still taste a slight plastic/chemical hint.
    After using for about 8 months the lid started to get a bit stiff and I had to hit it in order to get it shut. I could live with that until about a week ago when
    it also became really difficult to open and finally, this morning it broke off completely!
    I am more disappointed to have to be adding this to landfill than spend money on another kettle. I have lost faith in the brand; I won't necessarily be buying
    Russell Hobbs again.
    Reviews for Russell Hobbs 14590 1.7 L Stylis Kettle in Black Gloss Classic Design (Kitchen & Home) I originally bought this kettle and it developed a problem with the lid mechanism within the warranty period. Basically the lid would not open. Amazon gave excellent customer service and replaced the product. Within 8 months of using this new kettle it has developed exactly the same problem! I contacted Amazon and they advised me to contact Russell Hobbs Customer Services as it has been over a year since I purchased the first one. Russell Hobbs has replied stating that they have never had any complaints about this product - interesting as I have read many reviews on Amazon about this product all saying that they have had lid problems.
    Reviews for Russell Hobbs 14590 1.7 L Stylis Kettle in Black Gloss Classic Design (Kitchen & Home) PLEASE NOTE: After owning this kettle for a year (I wrote the review below a year ago), the lid on this kettle just broke. Three screws just sheared through the plastic. Trying to mend it but it's unusable unless the lid is mended. Not particularly happy since the lid is subject to the most wear and should be made stronger than this!

    I wanted a new kettle after the last one kept tripping the electricity, and so looked for a nice-looking kettle with black in the colour-scheme.

    This Russell Hobbs Stylis kettle seemed just right, and had all the things I was looking for:
    * water level indicator
    * plastic so it doesn't burn
    * auto-cut off when picked up
    * concealed element

    LOOKS
    See for yourself, but I find it quite nice to look at. The blue band lights up when boiling

    OPERATION
    Boils quickly, not very noisy, large pouring spout.
