It is high wattage--3 kilowatt (kW)--keeping the boiling time short to save you time and has a concealed element. It has a capacity of 1.7 litres (l) and so can accommodate about six to eight cups--ideal for families.   Reviews for Breville VKJ333 Red Stainless Steel Traditional Kettle (Kitchen & Home) The Silver band around the base corrodes and becomes impossible to clean the "fur" that forms on it off. In addition to the band furring up, the lid has started to rust, and overall the kettle looks about 3 years old, not 3 months! It has also began to need a bit of wiggling on the base before contact is made and the kettle comes on. You can do better with a cheap supermarket kettle.
