3.0 Out Of 5 Stars (49 Customer Reviews)Reviews for Russell Hobbs 14339 1.7 L Seattle Colour Changing Kettle 3 kW (Kitchen & Home) A value for money kettle with colour changing water level panel. Blue when cold, then turns red as water nears boil, then slowly goes back to blue as water cools.
It's a kettle, it boils water, it does the job just fine.
REVIEW UPDATE 06 MAY 2009: After a couple of months of use, the colour changing panel no longer changes colour!! It remains red the whole time! It's still a kettle, it still boils water. Though, think the colour panel should last longer than 2 months :-(( Dissatisfied.
Reviews for Russell Hobbs 14339 1.7 L Seattle Colour Changing Kettle 3 kW (Kitchen & Home) Purchased this product about a week before Xmas as the old kettle had given up the ghost (hard water area).
First impressions were OK, especially for the price. Yes it seemed somewhat plastic in construction but felt solid enough and poured well. Followed the instructions regarding first use (boil, rinse, discard, repeat etc) but, even after a week there was an awful plastic taint present in the water that just would not go away.
That and the colour changing feature that really isn't...
The plastic window reacts to heat and turns a kind of blue washed out with red. Very poor.
Reviews for Russell Hobbs 14339 1.7 L Seattle Colour Changing Kettle 3 kW (Kitchen & Home) We had the recent misfortune of buying this particular kettle. We'd recently had a new kitchen fitted, and in keeping with the colour scheme, wanted all black appliances. We brought this kettle as it looked good, was a fair price and should in theory be from a brand name manufacturer. We've had the kettle about two months now, it's not had excessive use, probably at most boiled 2 or 3 times a day. Unfortunately the light started to cut out, and started to flash as it started to boil. Along with that the heating element will start up, and then suddenly die during the boiling process, and you can hear it trying it's hardest to boil, eventually getting there after much of a struggle.
