The lid has never popped up while boiling (I've read this in other reviews), the instructions actually say to fill through the spout as this keeps the filter clean, so I never open the lid. The spout is quite wide so you can fill it pretty quickly. My girlfriend has commented it's a bit heavy when filled to the max so may not be suitable for the elderly. The outside can get very hot (it's a kettle!). No spitting water noticed. It's no louder than our old one and any splashes or grease can be wiped off with a microfibre cloth.

After around 6 months the kettle has started leaking from around the window seal. Unable to find my proof of purchase, Morrisons will not accept the kettle back and after contacting Morphy Richards, without proof of purchase all they could offer me was the chance to buy another kettle at a discount, instead of 39.99 they would sell me one for 29.99, (selling in Morrisons for 24.95!) Although they "offer" a 2 year guarantee ON PARTS, you need to register the product for this guarantee.
