Breville VKJ469 Stainless Steel Brita Filter Kettle with Spectra Illumination by Breville
The Breville VKJ469 polished stainless steel Brita filter jug kettle combines modern design with high performance. It is high wattage--3 kilowatt (kW)--keeping the boiling time short to save you time and has a concealed element. This makes it easier to clean and more energy efficient than an immersed element, requiring a lower minimum water level in order to function safely. It has a capacity of 1 litre (l) and features Brita filter technology which works as the kettle is boiling. This Brita filter uses a mixture of carbon and ion exchange resin to remove hardness, chlorine, heavy metals such as lead and copper, and other organic impurities from your water to improve its taste, smell and appearance. The kettle includes a recyclable Brita Maxtra cartridge which features a Memo display that automatically reminds you when your filter cartridge needs to be changed.

2.9 Out Of 5 Stars (22 Customer Reviews)Reviews for Breville VKJ469 Stainless Steel Brita Filter Kettle with Spectra Illumination (Kitchen & Home) Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?) This kettle sure is pretty to look at, with slowly alternating fluorescent colours lighting it up.
Reviews for Breville VKJ469 Stainless Steel Brita Filter Kettle with Spectra Illumination (Kitchen & Home) Very dissapointed with this model as the Lid Release Button has developed a fault, just will not open the lid when you need to top up for a hot drink this seems to me a design fault as this has now occured twice, once on my original purchase and now the same fault has developed on its replacement.(now the button jams etc!)
The Spectre filter kettle I'm sure was a to be and interesting concept but this release button system lets it down. Otherwise, it was an ideal replacement for our old filter kettle.
Thanks to Amazon I am able to get a full refund. I hope they send this review and the kettle to Breville. We shall look for another model, in hopes that too does not develope the same fault.
Reviews for Breville VKJ469 Stainless Steel Brita Filter Kettle with Spectra Illumination (Kitchen & Home) Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?) This kettle is ideal for those who prefer better quality water in their drinks.
The kettle itself has a quite nice design, and uses a 360 swivel base, which is standard for most modern kettles.
It weighs more than a conventional kettle, but that is due to the stainless steel, and also filter inside of it.
The rubber grip on the handle is good, as it means when pouring a full kettle it wont slip, and even if you hands are slightly wet.
The kettle has LED lights which constantly change between colours, which some might like, but could become annoying at times, and also an unneeded waste of power.
The boiling time is quite good, and will boil it quite fast compared to cheaper models I've used in the past.
The kettle uses a filter system, where the water must go through that before it can be boiled in the base of the kettle. I've read people complain about this, but most filters take a little time, and this only takes like 30secs for a full kettle to filter through before you can boil.
The limit of the kettle is only 1 Litre, which is more ideal for non large boils. Basically this item is more ideal for someone who mainly uses it for cups of tea or coffee, and would prefer nice, crystal clear water, that does actually make the drink taste a little better.
Overall It is quite nice, but anyone thinking of buying it should only for the reasons I have mentioned, and not if they are boiling huge loads all the time.
UPDATE: Having used this kettle for a month it broke. The open lid button when pressed goes in and doesn't come out, which means I cant open the lid to fill the kettle or change the filter. Pretty bad design flaw I think.
