3.4 Out Of 5 Stars (68 Customer Reviews)Reviews for Breville VKJ097 Brushed Stainless Steel Brita Filter Jug Kettle (Kitchen & Home) Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?) We already have a standard Brita filter that is kept in the fridge, but I was surprised at how effectively the filtration is used in this kettle. Although obvious members of the family fail to taste much difference, the 'connoisseurs' of the house (breakfast, afternoon, and evening drinkers) could instantly feel the smooth, un-hard liquid in their mouth.
An interesting aspect of the product is its Illumination using LED's. When the kettle is idle, it glows Green, but upon boiling the water, it transcends from Purple to Pink in one swift motion to tell you it's done (if you couldn't already hear it). On the note of noisy kettles, this is one of the quietest we've had as ones of the past have sounded like an aircraft taking off. It still makes some noise obviously, but no-where near as bad.
The only thing you will have to get used is waiting a minute or two for the water to trickle through the filter compartment, and then into the main boiling pot. If you're making just a pot for 2/3, then filling the compartment once is perfectly adequate. Also, as usual with the new Brita filters, don't always go by what the 'Memo' function says.
Reviews for Breville VKJ097 Brushed Stainless Steel Brita Filter Jug Kettle (Kitchen & Home) Its a fine kettle but after 4 months the lid release button completely broke. Not the only one here to suffer the same fate.
Reviews for Breville VKJ097 Brushed Stainless Steel Brita Filter Jug Kettle (Kitchen & Home) We bought this kettle to replace a previous Breville/Brita kettle which had served us well. We liked the filtered water and the effect this had on the quality of the hot drink, particularly living in a hard water area.
Upon receipt, we immediately noticed that the amount of water you could put into the kettle was a lot smaller than previously - probably around 3-4 cups worth. We could live with that, but was an issue when friends/famiily came round.
After 4 weeks, the button on the top of the kettle started to loosen. As a result, pressing the button would often not open the lid.
After 4 months, the button completely broke. We returned it and bought a different make.
A friend of our has the same kettle. She is currently on her sixth replacement.
I did like this kettle, and it does make an appealing purchase, however our experience is that the build quality could be better.
