Reviews for Prestige Dakota Cordless Jug Kettle, 1.7 Litre, Black (Kitchen & Home) We searched the net and read lots of reviews before buying this kettle and we are not displeased. It is sturdy and the on/off switch is so not flimsy like alot of the others. The blue lights that light up at either side of the kettle are really cool. It also has a nifty button you press and the lid flips up so you can refill it. It boils fast, maybe a tad noisy but no more noisy than my old Russel Hobbs which dropped to peices in no time at all. It is graphite colour which sparkles a little in the light. Nice silicone coated handle for easy grip. All in all a good solid and attractive kettle.
Reviews for Prestige Dakota Cordless Jug Kettle, 1.7 Litre, Black (Kitchen & Home) The minimum amount of water you can boil with this kettle is about 750ml and the fill level indicator is not very easy to see so you'll often end up boiling 1 litre minimum. That's fine if you always need to boil a lot of water but if all you want is enough for one cuppa then this kettle is very wasteful of your time and your electricity. Also, it's not the easiest to fill via the spout. The picture looks like it's plain black but it isn't. The finish is a kind of metallic black. There are some much better and much more economical kettles available than this. In my opinion, it's overpriced for what it is.

Edited Dec 2010; Having used it for over a year now, I agree with other reviewers that it is difficult to pour from this kettle without water going all over the place so I've knocked another star off my rating. This kettle has nothing to recommend it.
Reviews for Prestige Dakota Cordless Jug Kettle, 1.7 Litre, Black (Kitchen & Home) After having considerable problems with my last kettle purchase (2 Brevilles with various faults and 1 Kenwood that worked ok for a few months then started leaking water all over the worktop when poured) I thought I would try another brand to see if I had would have better luck. I was a bit wary of the reviews that stated this kettle didn't pour very well, but I have been using this kettle over a week and do not have any problems pouring at a normal rate. Perhaps the users that have problems have a faulty filter or it has become blocked with scale?

Altogether this is a good kettle, boils quickly, not too noisy and turns off soon after it reaches the boil. Would have preferred a solid black colour as this is a black sparkle effect (apart from the lid, handle and base) but it is only really noticeable close-up.
