The toaster is great but the kettle is obviously something that Morphy Richards realised was a mistake as it's no longer on their brand website. The fist one we had lasted no time at all as the lid wouldn't open from day one. We returned it for an identical replacement but that one lasted about two weeks before the lid started sticking.

It does look a bit plastic-y but I expected that from a coloured kettle and the quiet rapid boil claims are true but over all you need to be able to get water in the thing without sticking a finger nail under the rim of the lid.

I wouldn't recommend this product at all. I replaced it with a magimix kettle - chrome body cream handle which matches the toaster just about and makes the Morphy Richards kettle look like a toy. So far so good on the Magimix 11561 Kettle polished stainless steel with cream handle the quality is so much better, it looks sexier (if a kettle can be sexy) and you get a 3 year guarantee.

Unfortunately after a couple weeks, the (rather flimsy) lid wouldnt stay shut, so returned it to Amazon who replaced it quickly. The repacement one has the opposite problem - the lid wont always open first time. Imtermittent fault at the moment, but it will go back if it gets worse. Hopefully there will be a money back choice if it does go back. Its mid price range so really should be better. probably better going for cheap and cheerful without a sprung lid.

It is also one of the few simply styled but elegant beige kettles, ideal for our decor, and if you don't want to be dazzled by brilliant white or tacky chrome.
