I had absolutely no need to be worried - this is a well made, well designed kettle that performs as good as it looks. It boils water in a reasonably quick time and doesn't leak when pouring - what more could you want.

Reviews for BODUM Bistro 1.5 Litre/ 51 oz Electric Water Kettle, Lime Green (Kitchen & Home) Great kettle functionally but it's not the same green as the Bodum Knif Block Bodum Bistro Knife Block, Lime Green which is a shame as I bought it to match. I much prefer the matt finish of the knife block but the kettle is a very cheap looking glossy plastic so it went back I'm afraid and replaced it with a simple stainless number which I would recommend. Because people buy Bodum for the style as much as functionality, I can only give it 3 stars.

Once it is boiling it keeps boiling for longer than necessary, and you cannot remove it until it is finished or it will continue trying to boil when you put it back on the base. Also, you have to wait up to 15 minutes to re-boil it! Mine is currently in the repair shop (under warranty hopefully) as the on button won't stay on at all. It's been well used but I've only had it 11 months.

It gives a bit of colour and style to the kitchen. Having had numerous problems with top of the range metal kettles I decided to give this one a go even though it is plastic. Glad I did - it is lightweight to hold, pours beautifully with no drips or spills and easy to fill with Brita jug. The on switch glows with a blue light when on. Have had it for 8 months and no problems whatsoever. Also much easier to keep looking clean and shiny than the chrome or steel kettles. Not too noisy either.

The element is hidden in the base of the kettle. so easy to keep clean. Very easy to fill as the button openes up the kettle with lots of room to use a mixer tap.

Saying that, it's easy to use and boils the water quite quickly. The blue lights are nice to look at. I have no trouble working out how much water required for one, two or three cups of tea. I thought this item good value and have only marked it down one star due to the noise whilst boiling.
